And finally, the ominous “tree-hanging ready to fly squirrel” – seriously I was scared, but I did it for your viewing pleasure – and to have a picture to compliment my story. A story that illustrates the true threat that squirrels can pose. Now, there is a reason behind my fear of squirrels. In second or third year of university at Ottawa U. I was having lunch on the lawn under a tree. At one point I looked up and realized I was surrounded by three squirrels. I am not joking – two were at my right side and one was standing in front of me, glaring at my sandwich while slowly inching forward. Naturally I got up and started slowly walking backwards – the two squirrels to my side skittered off, but the one would not leave. It came closer and I felt as if it was going to jump on me. I think it sensed my fear! I lunged for my bag, carefully, keeping my eyes on the squirrel and I (briskly) walked away.
I think though, that the trip to High Park, with its dozens of squirrels, was my first step towards systematic desensitization J

That’s me! I saw a sweet couple with their baby and offered to take their picture. The gentleman was kind enough to ask if I’d like one taken – being the wannabe model I am of course I said yes J

This tree was on a paved, downward pathway. I could smell the leaves and feel the cold in this part of the park due to the shade. I thought it would be a good place to try and shot (with the camera) the squirrel in the tree. His fluffy tail is so cute!

I went to High Park, I was really supposed to be at the student rally protesting tuition fees – instead I took the day to make my signature tomatoe soup, to study and to relax. It was a cool, clear sunny day – a perfect day for the park AND for pictures. So, because I am such a cheater, I took my weekly picture quota at the park. I fear that these “one shot picture quotas” may become a trend until school is up!

My fourth picture of the week! I made the deadline - I wasn’t sure what I would photograph until I saw my shadow at about 3:30 in the afternoon. Creative, no?

life-in-pictures-002.jpgThursday October 30, 2008 This tree was so beautiful when I saw it a few days before I shot this picture. Jas and I had just come back from a run, we held hands and went for a cool down walk near our place. At that time the sun was setting and this tree looked like it was shining red. I took this picture on my way to TRI – there was a guy in the window probably wondering what I was doing, ha ha.

Sunday October 26, 2008 In these past couple of months, I have some fantastic memories of laughter (with new and old friends at weddings and new opportunities). I though that this quote at a furniture store where Jas and I were looking for a bed was a poignant reminder that one’s state of being is more important than where I is living! J
